Last Monday the high school journalism students attended the Nebraska High School Press Association Fall Convention and brought home top honors!

The students earned the Cornhusker Award — the highest honor for journalistic excellence in high school publications — scoring 960 out of 1000 points! One judge remarked that their “coverage is bar none the best in the state,” and praised the team’s commitment to inclusion, saying “all the detail I see throughout indicates a staff that cares deeply about making sure inclusion occurs at the granular level.”

The yearbook also received Golden Kernel Awards for Design and Coverage. The News Magazine earned a Golden Kernel for Design, and both the News Magazine and Website received Distinction Marks for their outstanding work.

Congratulations to all the journalism students for their outstanding work and commitment to excellence! 🐅🖤💛

Yesterday, some of our students attended the Women in Manufacturing Luncheon at MCC South Omaha Campus! They listened to an inspiring panel of women in the manufacturing field, met with local businesses to learn about future career paths, and got a hands-on look at the Welding department offered at South Campus.

📢 Yearbooks Are Here! 📢

The 2025 yearbooks have been delivered and are now ready for pickup.

Current Students:

You can pick up your yearbook from your TST teacher.

If your TST teacher does not have it for any reason, please stop by the Journalism Lab before or after school.

🎓 Class of 2025 Graduates:

You may pick up your yearbook at the front office.

A parent, family member, or friend may pick it up on your behalf—they’ll just need to sign for it.

To help the office staff, we ask that pickups avoid high-traffic times such as right before school or during lunch.

Not sure if you ordered a yearbook? You can check your order history at: www.yearbookforever.com/order-history

Want to buy one? We have a limited number of extra yearbooks available for purchase. Current students can visit the Journalism Room for more information.

Parents can email the adviser at david.stevens@fpsmail.org

Thank you for your patience and continued support of our student journalism program.

Addi Bateman and Jaime Ortega Castro recently represented Fremont/JAG-NE at the JAG National Career Development Conference in Indianapolis, IN. During the event, they attended leadership workshops, networked with JAG students and staff from across the country, and competed in events—all while getting the chance to explore the city. Jaime earned 1st place in Employability Skills, becoming the first-ever JAG-NE student to win an event! In addition, Fremont 11-12 was recognized as an Outstanding Chapter for the second consecutive year. Special recognition also goes to Laura Chali for designing and creating our chapter scrapbook, and to Addi Bateman, who was selected as a voting delegate for JAG-NE and had the honor of casting votes for the next JAG National Career Association Officers. Please take a moment to congratulate these students for their exceptional achievements!
